Lumber - Handloggers, Inc.

Handloggers, Inc. sells exclusively hardwood lumber. What is a hardwood? A hardwood is defined by its leaf form; specifically timber from broad-leaved and deciduous trees. The term does not infer hardness as we may think, but it is a classification. Generally the timber from hardwoods is heavier and harder than from conifer (needle-leaved) trees but there are many exceptions. The lightest known woods are hardwoods! Balsa, a soft and lightweight wood, is a hardwood.

Hardwood grades are established by the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) grading rules. We sell only the top two grades available, FAS (First & Seconds) and Select and Better. These grades relate to the number of standard defects acceptable per given grade and dictate minimum widths and lengths. The higher grades have minimum widths of 5 inches and minimum lengths of 8 feet, and provide the longest, clear cutting of the board between defects.

Our business is generally a retail business. Customers are welcome to select the inventory that best suits their project with minimum waste. We also wholesale lumber to commercial customers. If you have a project that requires specific stock, please contact us and we’ll be happy to provide you with a bid.

The chart below represents our standard inventory. If you are looking for something not shown on the chart, give us a call. We can most likely procure what you are looking for.
